1. Official Introduction
Officially Savonlinnan Motoristit ry – was founded in 1990, since then we have worked in the “shadow of the Olavinlinna Castle”. In 2006 we reached over 200 nice and lawful motorcyclist members.
Since we moved in to the new club house» (fin), we have had better opportunity to serve our members. The fully renovated club house offers great grounds to organize meetings, happenings, birthday parties, sauna nights and any other neat happenings and meetings.
The club house locates few kilometers from the town’s center in the residential area named Aholahti (Glade Bay), and it is surrounded by the spectacular nature.
At the club house, there is also separated workshop for maintaining, repairing and tweaking your motorbike. We also offer an opportunity to keep your motorcycle stored during the winter.
2. Our guidelines are to:
- spread an ideology of motorcycling
- promote good will between motorcyclists and the residents and businesses
- develop the traffic culture of and for motorcycling
- organize different kind of events, meetings and happenings to make sure that all our members will find something to interest them
- The CastleTrip (LinnaReissu) – an annual event
SaMory is a member of the Finnish Motorcyclists’ Association> (SMOTO – Suomen Motoristit ry).
3. Major Annual Events
The Driving Season’s Opening
Is officially hold in May. The event opens the official driving season in Savonlinna. The event is kept either at the town’s market place or the near of the center, and it will be open to the public.
The “CastleTrip” Event
Despite of its name it is not a trip to certain place or places to see some historic castles, events or other sights. It has got its name from the Savonlinna’s well-known landmark: Olavinlinna> (aka St. Olaf’s Castle).
The event is hold near Savonlinna town or in its surrounded areas. It is held yearly at the end of May or at the early of the June. This three-days-event lasts through weekend from Friday to Sunday, and has a lot to offer to the motorcyclists.
– was first held in 1995
– meant only for Finnish motorcyclists
– is hold yearly
– has a fee that is set yearly (includes breakfast and lunch)
– has accommodation possibility either indoors or outdoors (cabins or in your own tent)
– offers a lot of fun and other action
– in 2015 this event celebrated its 20th anniversary.
Unfortunately, since 2018 the event have been put on hold due the small number of participants.

The Driving Season’s Ending
Is officially hold in September during the members and VIP’s. This event ends the driving season and welcomes the autumn. It is also a mark for the drivers to be prepared for cold, rain and dark weathers, and make sure that the motorcycles are no longer suitable vehicles to ride on.

And as registered association we have a statutory to keep two major meetings; one in spring and one in autumn. If needed, extra meetings are held separately.
